Jim Michaels, PTJim
is a Hobart College graduate where he played fullback in football and
was captain of the lacrosse team as a midfielder his senior year. He
received his PT education at Northwestern University Medical School. He
has received graduate degrees from both Boston University with
concentration in motor control and motor learning, and from Worcester
State College in Health Education.
Jim's PT
experience includes work as a clinical administrator, clinical and
academic educator, and educational administrator. He was Director of
Acute Rehabilitation at UMass Medical Center and helped to establish
the Center for Health and Fitness as Associate Director for
Musculoskeletal . He was coordinator of the Physical Therapist
Assistant program and Division Director for Health and Sciences at
Becker College.
His clinical experience has
included adult rehabilitation, MS clinics, muscular dystrophy clinics,
sports medicine and orthopedics. His academic interests center on motor
control, motor learning, and neurophysiologic/neurodevelopmental
approaches to therapeutic exercises.
Jim's outside interests include choral music, guitar, kayaking, fishing and tennis.
